We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account and use the service, including:

Parent/guardian name, email address, and password
Family name and family access code
Children's first names and associated school data (assignments, tests, schedules)
Email addresses you optionally provide for children (for future reminder features)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to provide and operate the Homework Tracker service, including:

Authenticating your account and securing access
Storing and displaying your family's homework and test data
Sending email reminders and daily digest emails (if enabled)
Sending nightly database backup emails to the account holder

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored in a secured PostgreSQL database hosted on Render.com. Access is restricted to authenticated users within your family account. Each family's data is completely isolated from other families.

4. Email Communications

We use Resend to send transactional emails (reminders, daily digests, backup notifications). We do not send promotional or marketing emails. You may disable email features at any time through your account settings.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser localStorage and sessionStorage to maintain your login session. No third-party tracking cookies are used. We do not use analytics services or advertising trackers.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at support@homeworktracker.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

Homework Tracker is designed for use by families. Children access the service through a family code provided by their parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children independently of their parent's account. All child data is managed under the parent's account.

8. Disclaimer of Liability

WE MAKE NO WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, REGARDING THE RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY, OR ACCURACY OF THIS SERVICE. YOUR USE OF HOMEWORK TRACKER IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, INTERRUPTION OF SERVICE, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
