Everything you need to know about setting up and using Homework Tracker for your family.
Click Log In → on the homepage, then select the Parent tab and click Create an account. Fill in your name, email, password, and a family name (e.g. "The Smiths"). Once registered you'll land directly on your parent dashboard.
No. Homework Tracker runs entirely in your browser — on any phone, tablet, or computer. There is nothing to install. Just bookmark the site and you're set.
After logging in as a parent, go to Family Settings (the gear icon or settings section). Enter each child's first name and click Add Child. Each child will then appear in your dashboard and have their own login tile.
Go to the login page and select the Parent tab. Enter your email address and password, then click Log In. Check Remember me to stay logged in between sessions, or leave it unchecked to log out automatically when you close your browser.
At this time, password reset is handled by contacting support at support@homeworktracker.app. We'll reset it for you promptly. A self-service password reset feature is planned for a future update.
When checked, your login session is saved in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in even after closing the tab or browser. When unchecked, your session is stored in session storage and clears automatically when you close the browser.
On the login page, select the Student tab. Enter the 6-character family code (ask your parent — it's shown in the parent dashboard under Family Settings). After entering the code, tap your name from the list that appears.
Parents can find the family code in Family Settings on their dashboard. It's a 6-character code (letters and numbers) that your children use to access the student login. Share it with your kids — it doesn't change unless you reset it.
No. Students log in using the family code and then tap their name. There's no individual password for students, which makes it quick and easy for kids to get in.
From the parent or student dashboard, click Add Assignment. Fill in the subject, description, due date, and any notes. You can also set a reminder time to receive an email notification. Click Save and it will appear in the assignment list.
In the student dashboard, each assignment has quick action buttons:
Students can also update the completion percentage using the progress bar on each assignment.
At the top of the assignment list there are colored filter pills: All, Overdue, Due Soon, On Hold, Upcoming, and Completed. Click any filter to show only assignments in that category. Click All or the active filter again to show everything.
In the parent dashboard, go to the Bell Schedule section. Click Edit to enter your school's schedule for A, B, and C days. If you attend Olympia High School, click Prefill: Olympia to automatically fill in all three day schedules at once. Your schedule is saved in your browser and available any time.
When adding or editing an assignment or test, you can set a Remind me date and time. The system will send an email to the address on file at that time. You can choose a specific date/time or use quick options like "Evening before" or "Morning of." Parents also receive a daily digest email each evening summarizing all pending and upcoming work.
Yes! On the Calendar page, click Export to Calendar (.ics). This downloads a standard iCalendar file you can import into iPhone Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, or any other calendar app. The export includes all assignments and tests with their due dates.
Yes. Each family's data is completely isolated — no other family can see your assignments, children, or schedules. Access requires your email/password (for parents) or family code + name selection (for students). We do not share your data with any third parties.
Yes. The system runs an automatic nightly backup of the entire database at 3:00am, which is emailed as a JSON file to the account administrator. Your data is also hosted on Render.com which maintains its own infrastructure redundancy.
Email us at support@homeworktracker.app and we will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
The server may be waking up from an idle state (this can take 30–60 seconds on the first visit). Just wait a moment and try again. If the problem persists, try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) or contact support.
First check your spam/junk folder — reminder emails occasionally get filtered. Make sure the email address on your account is correct. If email reminders are still not arriving, contact us at support@homeworktracker.app
If you did not check Remember me at login, your session clears when the browser is closed. To stay logged in, log in again and check the Remember me box. Sessions can also expire after extended inactivity for security.
